How To Anti-Age In 24 Hours
With most of us juggling careers, families and social lives, we can often forget that stress is one of the biggest culprits of premature ageing. There are some things we can do to make our lives less tense – here’s the Brand New You guide to how you can de-stress your day...
7.00AM: EARLY BIRD...
It seems we all know it, but not enough of us are doing it – in order to feel refreshed and rested we need a decent eight hours of sleep. Sleep recharges us like nothing else and is essential to our wellbeing and survival. The quality and quantity of your sleep can make all the difference to how productive you’ll be the next day. Some tips for getting a good night’s sleep include: maintaining a regular bedtime and wake time schedule (including weekends) – the earlier the better; finish eating at least two to three hours before bedtime; create a sleep-conducive environment that is dark, quiet, comfortable and cool; and make sure that you avoid nicotine, caffeine and alcohol close to bedtime.
11.30AM: DESKERCISE!
Throughout your day, take time for stretching and deep breathing exercises – by getting the oxygen moving around your body again, you’ll soon feel much more rejuvenated. Try a simple exercise when you’re sitting at your desk. First, sit with your spine straight, with both feet flat on the floor and feel your bottom pressing into the chair. Firmly, grasp your kneecaps and hold them. Keeping your shoulders and arms are relaxed, inhale slowly, pressing and lifting your chest forward and up. Next, exhale slowly, rounding your back, pulling your navel into your spine and curling your shoulders forward. Repeat this exercise until your body feels relaxed and loose.
